On the second Sunday of each month (except during the summer), our United Methodist Men meet for breakfast at 8:30am.  Named after a long-time member and cook, this men’s group is one of the largest men’s gatherings in our area.

Earlier that morning, about eight men gather to cook country ham, sausage, eggs, grits, biscuits, and red-eye gravy.  The food may not be the most healthy, but it is good!  At 8:30, women who have come for the Jubilee-Ward United Methodist Women’s Circle are served first, and then about 50 men of all ages.

The men fellowship around tables, sing a few songs, and then have a program on a local mission or topic of community interest.  Subjects have included Hispanic ministries and literacy action.  The men often make a contribution to the mission.  Each year, for example, the men purchase plastic shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.

The James Jackson United Methodist Men always welcome new members; the only requirement is to come and enjoy the food and fellowship.
