CUMC is now home to three Girl Scout Troops.  Last March, a Daisy, Brownie and Junior troop relocated to Central.  Our troops are excited about the upcoming year and we are thankful to Central for giving us a Church home where we can continue to grow and serve God and our community.  As we prepare to begin another year of scouting, we want to share the following information about Girl Scouts.  Girl Scouts has five age levels:

·        Daisies is a one year program for Kindergarteners.

·        Brownies is for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders.

·        Juniors is for 4th, 5th and 6th graders

·        Cadets is for 7th, 8th and 9th graders

• Seniors is for 10^th, 11^th, and 12^th graders. 

It is our hope to someday have all 5 age levels represented here at Central.  We currently have strong leadership and good participation with approximately 36 girls enrolled in our Brownie and Junior troops, but we are in need of a Daisy troop leader.  If you have a kindergarten age girl or perhaps you would just be interested in participating in Girl Scouts, please contact Donna Keck (704-786-1913).  Our troops meet twice a month on Fridays from 4:00 – 6:00. 

We will try to keep you informed of on our troop’s activities and service projects such as the upcoming Craft Fair at CUMC.  Our Junior Troop is sponsoring this Craft Fair on 11/13/04 to help raise money for our trip to Savannah to visit Juliette Low’s house (the founder of Girl Scouts).  Any crafters out there are welcome to register for a booth or just come shop.  We appreciate your support.  Look for more updates in the newsletter and on the web page.
