In October 2006, ten members of Central traveled to Moss Point, Mississippi. This area was hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the community was still rebuilding. We stayed in the educational building of Safe Harbor United Methodist Church and worshiped with the congregation on Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. We prepared some of our meals in the church kitchen, and the church prepared other meals for us. During the week, we renovated a nearby home that had been flooded. We repaired flooring and walls, installed kitchen cabinets, fixed a bathroom, cleaned up the yard, installed new plumbing, and painted.
