The Parish Nurse Program offers our congregations a wholistic approach to  health that recognizes the inter-relationship of the spirit, the body, and the mind.  Our program helps members learn how to live healthier lives.  This program is co-sponsored by NorthEast Medical Center.

Who is the Parish Nurse?

What does a Parish Nurse do?

     She is a Health Educator.  Through classes, seminars, and conferences, Leigh Ann informs the congregation about the correlation of health to lifestyle, personal habits, attitudes, and faith.  Typical education topics include stress, grief, weight management, exercise, and family relationships.

     She is a Health Counselor.  Leigh Ann is available to discuss personal issues and health concerns, to recommend medical intervention and to make or to coordinate home, hospital and nursing home visits.  She serves as a liaison between hospital and home; patient and physician.

     She is a Referral Source.  Leigh Ann also serves as a liaison to a variety of community resources and services.  These may include referral to church staff, physicians, self-help groups, community agencies, legal or financial advisors or others.
