There is no place in Cabarrus County where the homeless can get a free lunch on the weekends. When a Disciple Bible Study group learned this, it created quite a stir. This group at Central decided that no one should go hungry on the Sabbath, and Fueling Friendships was formed.
A rotation of groups, mostly Sunday School classes, make sandwiches, pack lunch bags and hand them out to the hungry on our front lawn every Sunday morning at 11:30am. The meal consists of a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a granola bar and a bottle of water. The name Fueling Friendships comes from the desire that this act of service will not just provide sustenance to the neediest among us but will also lead to friendships formed with our homeless neighbors. It's easy for you to get involved. Check the bulletin board outside of Pastor Reta’s office, there are many jobs that can be filled. 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' – Matthew 25:40
