We offer a variety of Bible Studies and small groups at Central. Contact Pastor Carol to find what is a good fit for you!
Central offers a variety of small groups and Bible studies throughout the year in addition to the ones listed below. Contact Pastor Carol to find what is the right fit for you!
Each Sunday morning from 10:00am to 10:45am adults meet in small groups called “Sunday school classes” to study the Bible and support one another in their faith journeys. Each adult Sunday school class has its own unique flavor and way of offering Christian learning opportunities, genuine fellowship and missional outreach.
Any of our pastors can help you decide which class is right for you or you can read our class descriptions and join one on your own.
James Jackson United Methodist Men
On the second Sunday of each month (except during the summer), our United Methodist Men meet for breakfast at 8:30am. Named after a long-time member and cook, this men’s group is one of the largest men’s gatherings in our area.
Community, health and Christ are topics for programs at each of these meetings. On holidays family members are invited for food and fellowship. UMMen is not only a dynamic small group at Central, it is a community. UMM strongly supports Habitat for Humanity. At least once a year they participate in building a house. They also support CVAN, CCM, Missionary Baptist Church Breadbasket, Opportunity House, The Arey UMAR Home and others in our area. Globally they support Central's Costa Rica Mission and Operation Christmas Child.
All women are invited to be a part of United Methodist Women (UMW). All women who commit themselves to the purpose of UMW are members of this group. Worldwide, over a million women are active in the UMW, making it one of the largest women’s groups in the world. At Central, women primarily participate in the UMW via small groups called “circles.” Four of the five circles are named in honor of prominent women who have been members of Central: Coltrane Jones, Estaline Clark, Houston Tuttle, and Jubilee Ward. Circles meet monthly (except during the summer months of June through August) to discuss mission projects, business issues, and members' needs. Circle meetings often include delicious treats and a guest presentation.
Locations of circle meetings (either at the church or at the home of a circle member) are announced in the church bulletin.
PrimeTime serves adults who are age 55 and older in our older adult ministries. Prime Time meets every month (except during the summer months of June through August) on the second Wednesday of the month.
Sometimes monthly meetings are held in the church fellowship hall. At other times, Prime Time plans off-site adventures. Past adventures have included trips to the Billy Graham Library, Johnson & Wales Culinary School, Levine Museum, Flat Rock Playhouse, and Duke Gardens. Over night trips have included; Charleston, Savannah, Williamsburg, Washington, DC and Asheville.
