We offer a wide variety of music at Central United Methodist Church. Donna Hill is our Chancel Choir Director, and Susan Renz is our Wesley Ringers Director. Often the Chancel Choir is joined by talented musicians from the Charlotte area.
The members of the choirs at Central love one another, love God, and love making music with each other. We believe that music is a way of seeking God, a way of finding God and a way of sharing God’s love with others. We discover with one another how music can unite us, heal us, challenges us, and teaches us. Thanks be to God for music and Thanks be to God for Central where music is appreciated and nurtured.
The Chancel Choir is a non-auditioned group that welcomes anyone who wants to come and make music with us. The choir is led by Donna Hill and accompanied by Susan Renz.
They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm in the choir room downstairs. Practice begins in late August for the fall.
The Wesley Ringers, directed by Susan Renz, are a three plus octave Handbell Choir that plays in worship several times throughout the year, along with attending a local annual handbell festival. The bells rehearse on Tuesdays from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary, September through June.. Basic music reading skills are helpful. New members are always welcome, ages high school and older.

In light of the CDC, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and the Western North Carolina Conference guidelines, mask wearing at Central United Methodist Church is now optional in all inside services and events. We do stress to be mindful that the youngest among us still cannot be vaccinated and thus special precautions should be taken in the children’s areas. If individuals prefer to wear masks, we still offer masks in the narthex and extend grace to each other for personal preferences.
