Who We Are

Central is a United Methodist congregation that worships in a traditional style.

What to Expect

Worship at Central UMC is traditional with a desire to touch and change human hearts.  Some persons dress casually for worship, while others wear their Sunday best. You will find at all our services a diverse congregation reflecting a wide range of social, economic, political, and religious perspectives.  We are diverse yet unified in our worship of our one God. You will experience warm and gracious hospitality from everyone.

We offer two worship services every Sunday morning. Our Early Service is from 8:45-9:45am. Our later service is from 11:00 am-Noon. We offer Sunday School classes for children, youth, and adults from 9:45-10:45am every Sunday also.

This music during our early service is a quiet and meditative tone, using featuring piano or acoustic guitar. We sing hymns or quiet songs from many traditions. Our 11:00am service features our adult chancel choir, is among the finest in the greater Charlotte area. They sing a wide range of choral music from classic to very contemporary. Click here to see a video of their anthems.

Each service includes thoughtful and engaging sermons by one of our pastors or other staff member. Click here to preview one of our sermons.

At early service, we celebrate Holy Communion every week. At the 11:00am service, we celebrate communion the first Sunday of the month. All persons are always invited to the Lord’s Table.

Children's Ministry

At both services, the children in our congregation are invited to the front of the church every week to hear a message specifically for them from one of our pastors. If they are too young to sit through the sermon, they are invited to enjoy either our Nursery (ages birth to four years) or our Children's Church service (ages four to second grade), at 11:00am.
