July & August Sunday Services

July 5:  Juliet Spence will speak on this day.  Juliet is a newer member of Central and a native of Jamaica.  She taught English in a Jamaica college and was also a lay speaker in The Methodist Church of the Caribbean and Americas.  Juliet sings in our choir, is going with her daughter Dr. Kerri Ann Thompson on the Navajo Mission, and is a deeply spiritual woman.  She has spoken to a number of UMWomen’s Circles and on this day will share with us her spiritual journey.

July 12:  Leigh Ann Ruehlen and the Parish Health Cabinet will lead our worship today.  This is the fourth anniversary of Parish Nursing at Central and we celebrate their leadership among us.

July 19:  Pastor Andy will preach on the question: “Is My Unchurched Neighbor Going to Hell?”  We will also baptize Tyler Winslow McLaurin today.

July 26:  Pastor Andy will preach on “Why Do We Sing Hymns Nobody Knows?”  We’ll discuss the roll of music in our worship.

August 2:  We will celebrate Holy Communion at both worship services.  Pastor Andy will preach on “Why Do We Change the Colors in the Sanctuary?”  We will be talking about the Christian Year.  He will also put on display some of his many stoles.

August 9:  Pastor Andy will preach on “Are All Acts of God Acts of God?”  The question might always be should we always blame God for acts of God?

August 16:  Pastor Andy will preach on “Why Did God Let My Kitten Die?”  The additional question to be answered is whether kittens and puppies get into heaven?

August 23:  Mission Sunday.  Pastor Andy will coordinate the various groups of our church who have been in mission this summer.  He will also preach on “Why Do We Send Money Off for Missions?”

August 30:  Daniel Wilson will preach and host our Sunday School Rally Sunday.  We will also have a church covered dish lunch to use all your summer vegetables.
