Central is a United Methodist congregation that worships in a traditional style.
Worship at Central UMC is traditional with a desire to touch and change human hearts. Some persons dress casually for worship, while others wear their Sunday best. You will find at all our services a diverse congregation reflecting a wide range of social, economic, political, and religious perspectives. We are diverse yet unified in our worship of our one God. You will experience warm and gracious hospitality from everyone.
Our Sunday service times are 8:45 and 11:00am.
The music during our 8:45 service has a reflective tone. Our 11:00 service features our chancel choir (and occasionally our handbell choir) through a variety of uplifting and inspiring music. New members wanting to share in ministry through music are always welcome!
At early service, we celebrate Holy Communion every week. At the 11:00 am service, we celebrate communion the first Sunday of the month. All persons are always invited to the Lord’s Table.
Children are always welcome in worship at Central, and we love the noise and energy they bring. Children who are too young to enjoy worship are invited to come to our nursery (birth to three years). The nursery is located in the educational wing.

In light of the CDC, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and the Western North Carolina Conference guidelines, mask wearing at Central United Methodist Church is now optional in all inside services and events. We do stress to be mindful that the youngest among us still cannot be vaccinated and thus special precautions should be taken in the children’s areas. If individuals prefer to wear masks, we still offer masks in the narthex and extend grace to each other for personal preferences.
